| Terry’s distinguished
career in UK industry started at English Electric as a guided
missile systems engineer. Early on he formed his own engineering
company, which he subsequently sold through a reverse takeover,
then expanded the enlarged group through a series of complementary
acquisitions. Terry has been Chief Executive and / or Chairman
of numerous public quoted companies, including Bonochord plc,
Edtec Inc (USA), Viennatone (Austria) and Syltone plc.
Terry has acted as an advisor and consultant to many financial
institutions, including 3i, Hambros, Kleinwort Benson (now
Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein), Peat Marwick Mitchell (now
KPMG) and Chesham Amalgmated.
In 1994 Terry was engaged by Nichol Beauty Products Ltd to
develop the company with a view to a future sale. Having substantially
grown the company through a planned strategy of organic growth
and acquisition, it was sold for £70M in 1997.
In 1998 ARP was engaged by Group Lotus plc (Lotus Cars) to
advise on their corporate and financial restructuring. Following
his development of a strategic and financial turnaround plan,
Terry raised £40M on the international debt markets,
and joined the main Group Board as a non-executive director.
In April 2001 Terry was appointed Group Chairman and Chief
Executive with a mandate to completely reorganise Lotus Cars
and Lotus Engineering consultancy; a task he successfully
completed a year later.
