The tools, techniques and processes
we use in our work with clients have been developed and refined through
years of hands-on client project experience. Two of ARP’s main
tools, Teardown™ and Boardwalk, help our clients deliver corporate
development and exit, growth and finance, turnaround and restructuring
projects, all in a fast, efficient and cost-effective way.
Teardown™
Teardown™ is a powerful diagnostic tool that delivers
a comprehensive business and marketplace review. Designed to establish
facts, and remove reliance on opinions, a Teardown™ seeks answers
to three fundamental questions:
| |
a) |
|
Where is the business today? |
| |
b) |
|
What is it doing, and where is it going? |
| |
c) |
|
What are the ultimate shareholder and company
objectives, and how will these be achieved? |
The Teardown™ is an ARP-controlled process that quickly establishes
clarity of the crucial business issues, providing a deeper level of
understanding by the key management than would be provided by a normal
analytical approach. As a controlled management meeting, the Teardown™
identifies recommendations for change with complete buy-in across
the company.
In Turnaround situations, these questions simplify to:
| |
a) |
|
What went wrong? |
| |
b) |
|
Why did it go wrong? |
| |
c) |
|
Can it be fixed, and how? |
Through the Teardown™ process, the identification of Quick Wins
that provide immediate positive cashflow impact can frequently stabilise
a troubled business in a very short period of time.
The outcome of a Teardown™ is a report providing a comprehensive
insight into the company and its marketplace, and the foundation for
a rigorous business plan with a clear course of action, complete with
fundamental buy-in from all parties.
Boardwalk
The ARP Boardwalk is a management tool that monitors and delivers
results.
An ARP-controlled process, the Boardwalk delivers the Teardown™
report recommendations and the company’s business plan.
Focusing on quantified targets for Quick Wins, shorter-term projects
and longer-term goals, Boardwalk is an extremely efficient and effective
method of gaining management buy-in, sharing knowledge, improving
communication, delivering change and achieving corporate objectives.
The Boardwalk identifies other issues that arise as part of the day-to-day
running of the company. It brings the whole management together to
report to one another, and helps to cascade information throughout
the company.
The Boardwalk process delivers substantial benefit to clients, whether
used to take a business through a preparation, sale and exit project,
or when delivering a complex business turnaround.
